On 20 February, Olympique de Marseille's season took a new turn: Jean-Louis Gasset was named coach. This season, he is the fourth coach after Marcelino, Jacques Abardonado, a quick interim, and Gennaro Gattuso.

Positive momentum for OM

Jean-Louis Gasset succeeded the Italian at a time when the Phocaean team was going through a real crisis of confidence, and the results were not long in coming. Whether in the league or the Europa League, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's squad have rediscovered their energy and dynamism. In their first match under their new staff, Marseille qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League by seeing off Chaktior Donetsk. With comprehensive wins over Montpellier, Clermont and Villarreal, OM are moving forward at a new pace. Before facing the Rouge et Noir, Chancel Mbemba and his troops beat Nantes, 2-0, and qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals in Spain, although the 3-1 defeat did not make up for the 4-0 victory in the previous match.

For the trip to Brittany, Marseille can count on a virtually complete squad. Midfielder Valentin Rongier, who has been absent since the start of November, will not be applying, as will Samuel Gigot, Bilal Nadir and Michael Murillo, the only absentees from the Marseille squad.

The new-look OM, seventh in Ligue 1, travel to Roazhon Park for a highly important clash with a view to Europe.
