Born in Turin, Italy, Frederic Massara is a dual French-Italian national with a distinguished career in football. Initially a professional player, he appeared more than 450 matches. Transitioning from the field to the sidelines, Frederic Massara served as an assistant coach before taking on the role of Head of Recruitment at Palermo.
In 2011, Frederic Massara joined AS Roma, where he was appointed Sporting Director in 2016. His tenure in Rome was briefly interrupted in 2017 when he followed Walter Sabatini to Inter Milan and later to Jiangsu Suning, before returning to the Italian capital. In 2019, he became the Sporting Director of AC Milan, playing a crucial role in building a squad that clinched the Serie A title in 2022 and reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2023. His achievements were recognized at the Globe Soccer Awards 2022, where he was awarded Best Sporting Director of the Year alongside his Milanese compatriot Paolo Maldini.
At Stade Rennais F.C., Frederic Massara will lead the club’s sporting strategy, from youth development to the first team, and will work closely with Olivier Cloarec, Executive President and General Manager.
