"First of all, Olivier Cloarec cannot be with us. He underwent surgery for a herniated disc and cannot travel. We are thinking of him and wish him a speedy recovery.

I am very proud, on behalf of the club, to welcome Frederic Massara as the Sporting Director of Stade Rennais F.C. His arrival is a great opportunity as we begin a new sporting cycle

He has top-level European and international experience.

Franco-Italian, he arrives in Rennes with immense experience and carries a very strong ambition for SRFC. He is a football enthusiast, a hard worker, fully committed. We have already started working together, and I can attest to that. He has a very rich experience and background. He has been a professional player, assistant coach, Head of Recruitment, and Sporting Director in collaboration with big names. He has gained top-level European and international experience: Palermo, Rome, AC Milan, where he was named the best Sporting Director of the year at the Globe Soccer Awards in 2022 alongside Paolo Maldini.

With the club's shareholders and leaders, we were extremely convinced by Frederic's enthusiasm, his qualities, and his sincere desire to join the Rennes project at a crucial time to build the most competitive team possible after a cycle of six consecutive European seasons and a last one less successful in terms of results.

In Rennes, Frederic will oversee all sports activities, from training to the professional team. He is already intensely communicating with coach Julien Stéphan regarding the needs of the transfer market. His roadmap is clear despite the general uncertainty related to TV rights. It is to achieve results, make the supporters dream, and find the path to Europe again. To do this, we need to build the most efficient team possible this summer and rely on training, a societal, sporting, and economic pillar of the club. A club rooted in its territory and region. We are very proud to welcome him."
