Gómez began his professional career in Colombia's top tier with Millonarios, debuting at just 19 years old. Positioned as a right winger, he quickly showcased the pure attributes of a modern winger—speed, creativity, and effectiveness. His performances earned him a move to MLS in the winter of 2023.
Last season, Gómez continued his upward trajectory with Salt Lake, establishing himself as a key offensive player in the Western Conference. The native of Quibdó tallied 13 goals and 7 assists in 23 matches, all at the age of 21. His impressive form also led to international recognition, with appearances in friendlies against Spain and Romania.
Having proven himself in both Colombia and the United States, Carlos Andrés Gómez is now set for a new challenge in France, choosing Stade Rennais F.C. to continue his career.
"I'm obviously very happy; this is a significant step for me in a major league. I know I have to prove myself. My goal is to quickly contribute my skills to the team. I can't wait to meet my new teammates," said Gómez, who becomes the third Colombian to play for Stade Rennais F.C., following in the footsteps of Victor Hugo Montaño and Juan Fernando Quintero.
Welcome to Rennes, Andrés !
Olivier Cloarec, Executive President and CEO of Stade Rennais F.C. :
"Carlos represents the future of the Colombian national team. He's a dynamic winger with great dribbling skills, and he will bring his talent to our attack. We are very pleased to have him join the squad."
