Five Rennes players began their Olympic Games adventure on Wednesday evening. Mali's Wilson Samaké, who was unable to play due to a wrist injury, was unable to convert his dominance against Israel into a 1-1 draw at the Parc des Princes.

In Nice, with Amadou Diallo starting on the left side of attack but replaced in the 78th minute, Guinea lost 2-1 to New Zealand.

In Marseille, France put in a brilliant display against the USA, a 3-0 victory for Les Bleuets that included a goal from former Rennes star Loïc Badé. Adrien Truffert started, while Arnaud Kalimuendo and Désiré Doué came on for the second half.
